News - Singer Aaliyah remembered 15years after

Aaliyah Remembered 15 Years After Death
It’s hard to believe, but 15 years ago today (Aug. 25, 2001),
we lost Aaliyah Dana Haughton in a horrific plane crash in the Bahamas. She was just 22 years-old.
At the time, the young singer had just wrapped shooting her music video for “Rock the Boat” with Hype Williams, and was on her way back to the U.S. Eight other passengers on board, including hair stylist Eric Forman, makeup stylist Christopher Maldonado, and Blackground Records employees Douglas Kratz and Gina Smith, all perished in the crash.
The death left fans and the R&B community stunned and in mourning. The tragedy ended Aaliyah’s flourishing career, which would have found her in movies and other big projects.
Today, almost every R&B radio station has been playing mixes of Aaliyah songs. Meanwhile, fans went on Twitter to pay tribute to the late songbird and share how her music touched their lives.
“RIP Aaliyah. She was amazing. I was really sad when that happened. She’d still be dominating,” tweeted one fan. Another person commented, “Aaliyah would definitely be at the top of she was alive. You can’t argue that.”
Aaliyah may be gone, but she hasn’t been forgotten.
